acoustic guitar?

So i've never played the guitar before, but i want to learn how to play..just as a hobby. I'm going with an acoustic guitar right now, but i have a bunch of questions about buying one.
how much is a decent acoustic guitar for a 16 year old guy going to cost? I'm not trying to go pro or anything, its just a hobby, so i dont want to spent a lot. What are the good guitar brands? i'm clueless on those. How should i buy one? do i need to go to the store myself and get a fitted one? or what?

My guitar is an acoustic I've had for years. The neck is cracking, so it could break at any time. I'd like to replace it before that happens, leaving me heart-broken (guitar-broken?).  read more »
